Trail Construction and Aquisition Status

Ross County
 
The trail is now complete complete from east of Bridge Street in Chillicothe to SR 138 (Austin) for a total one-way distance of 17.2 miles. 
 
All bridges constructed and trail cleared from Austin west to Mills Road in Fayette County.
 
Fayette County
 
Approximately 5.7 miles have been completed between Robinson Road (County Road 141) and Fairview Road. 
 
Available right-of-way purchase has been completed between Washington CH and Greenfield.   
 
Approximately 3.5 miles of trail has been completed from Old Chillicothe Road on the east side of Washington Court House to Eyman Park on the west side.  A small section under railroad tressels just west of Court Street will be completed soon.

 
Highland County
 
Greenfield City has complete a one mile section of trail along Paint Creek south of SR 28 off McArthur Way.  The City of Greenfield has applied for a grant to purchase the right-of-way from Greenfield to Musselman Station just east of Frankfort.
 
Uncompleted sections of trail:
  • Fairview Road in Fayette Co. to Austin in Ross Co. ( 5.6 miles)
  • Washington C.H. to Greenfield (13.5 miles)
  • Greenfield to Frankfort (approx. 12.6 miles) 

Completed Sections:

  • Chillicothe to SR 138 (approx 17.2 miles)
  • Robinson Road to Fairview Road in Fayette County (approx 5.7 miles) 
  • 3.5 miles through Washington Court House
  • 1.0 miles in Greenfield along Paint Creek
  • 3.0 miles from Chillicothe City Limit to Bridge Street.

Status of right-of-way acquisiton:

  • Most of the right-of-way between Washington C.H. and Greenfield has
    been purchased for trail development by Washington C.H.  A
    few parcels were sold to adjoining property owners. 
  • The right-of-way between Greenfield and Frankfort has not been
    purchased.  A grant application has been submitted to purchase this right of way. 
  • Right-of-way has been purchased to connect Washington Court House to Xenia trail system connecting Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati and Little Miami Trail.
